ACW Air Cargo Conference - a big success at Routes 2010
The inaugural ACW Air Cargo Conference, co-located with the 16th World Routes Development Forum (Routes 2010) held on 19 September in Vancouver, proved to be an extremely successful event, with over 100 delegates in attendance.
- George Alabi of Boeing, highlighted the cargo-carrying capacities of the Boeing family of aircraft and the many advantages that the B787 'Dreamliner' will afford the air cargo industry
- Panel sessions moderated by ACW editor Ian Martin Jones saw Ram Menen of Emirates and Lisa Pleasant of American Airlines Cargo illustrating the fact that passenger airlines are increasingly paying attention to their cargo revenue earning prospects
- Wally Devereaux of Southwest Cargo provided a lively keynote address on the below-deck possibilities open to low-cost carriers
- Alex de Gunten of ALTA (the Latin American and Caribeean Air Transport Association) explained the cargo opportunities of Latin American Airlines
- Marcus Klaushofer of Moscow-Sheremetyevo airport, Michael Morey of Air Canada Cargo and Howard Jones of GSA Network Cargo Systems discussed ways to maximise the returns to be made from carrying cargo
- All speakers concluded that the general outlook for the air cargo industry is positive and looking good for the months ahead
